My Passion

We all have passions, things that we feel compelled to do. One hobby that I always seem to indulge my passion for is photography. For the Picture This challenge at Digitals this month it was to scrap something we love to do. The one hobby I consistently do is photographing my world. I am always striving to capture the moment as I live it with my family. Here is the page I created for this challenge using a photo that I took at Easter this year.

Journaling: Of all of my hobbies the one I love the most and frequently indulge in, much to the frustration of my family is photography. A camera is never far from my hand at family gatherings or events. I can easily take 300 plus photos in day when the mood strikes. Over the years I have become the family historian and thoroughly shine in my role.

A Beary Perfect Snuggle

You never know when an old present is going to get a lot of use. For our second Christmas together, while we were still dating, my husband gave wanted to give me the biggest teddy bear he could find. He definitely found a big one for me. The bear stands about 4 feet tall. While I thought this was just a totally sweet gift I had no idea of what I would do with this giant stuffed toy. Before we had kids it usually sat somewhere in the living room. When ever friends or family with small children visited us they would snuggle up with it. After the birth of our son the bear went into his room. Every once in awhile he would move it to but for the most part he would ignore it. Until one evening this summer. He dragged the bear out to the living room and sprawled on it all over the floor and couch while he watched TV that evening. I finally learned what you do with a 4 foot teddy bear, you use it as a lounge pillow on the floor.

Climb Climb Climb

Have you ever noticed how little ones just have to climb up on everything? Weather it is houses, trains, waterfalls? Anthony had a blast climbing on all of these at the mall while his sisters where shopping.

Grandparents Day

This Sunday is Grandparents Day, a time to say thank you to all of the grandparents in our lives. To celebrate one such special person in my son's life I made a special card. Of course I could not help but choose a very special photo to grace the front of the card. One that shows the love and friendship between Victor and his Grandma Mary.

The Body of Art Challenge 5 The Feet

Feet, movement, inspiration? Sure, why not. The 5th week took us down to the lowest point on a bodies focusing on how they let us move through our lives. The required element was arrows to show all the movement going on.

Moving to the Paint

Journaling; One of the thrills of buying your first house is getting to paint the walls whatever color you want. I spent the weeks between our offer being accepted and the closing picking the colors of our walls. With the help of my mom and step-dad we painted Victor’s bed room, the dining room and kitchen. At the end of a long day of painting Victor just had to get in on the action and moved right into the paint leaving his mark on the walls.

The Body of Art Challenge 4 The Heart

With challenge 4 we got to the heart of the matter and got to look at love. Of course we were encouraged to look at love from a non-traditional view point. The required element was stitching. My family had just spent part of day out at a botanical garden in our community that most people in the area are not even aware of and spent a wonderful time together. I used one of the pictures I had taken of the rose garden in my layout.

Body of Art Challenge 3 The Mouth

For week 3 we got a little 'mouthy' and had to use our words to tell the story. Our required element was to use at least three different fonts on the page. I had a blast getting all of the bits of journaling to fit on the page the way I wanted it to.

Busy Little Wolf

Journaling: Victor’s Wolf year is coming to a close this month. It is really hard to believe that we have been cub scouting for only two years. Yet he has accomplished so much. This year along with achieving his wolf rank he has completed the requirements for the Out Door Activity Award, the Leave No Trace Award, the World Conservation Award, four of the ribbons for the Centennial Patch (Outdoor, Character, Service, and Achievement), and 110 electives. He has gained a greater since of self and what it means to be a scout and to help others. I am so proud of all he has accomplished and looking forward to seeing what the year of the Bear will hold in store for Victor. Body of Art Challenge 2 The Brain

From the hands we moved to the brain. Such a fun part of the body to focus on. Because there are to hemispheres or sides that make up our brains the basic topic was to show two sides of your subject. Our required element this week was to use the rule of thirds to create our layouts. I really had fun with this when I came across some photos I had taken of my son when he went from letting me take pictures to saying no more and back in a matter of seconds.

Journaling: Victor is getting to the age where taking his photo gets more and more difficult. His tolerance for the camera can switch from ONE second to the next. Of course Mommy takes the picture any way.

Body of Art Challenge 1 The Hands

There is nothing like exploring the body through scrapping, to start off we focused on the hands. The challenge was to create a page about touch. How we interpreted that this was up to us. We were also required to use word art. I scraped a page about how my husband and I touch the lives of the children in our Sunday school class.

Tools 2 Succeed

Touching the lives of others through Christ is one of the highlights of my week. Helping children to find and touch God is a challenge that I truly look forward to each week my husband and I teach Sunday School.
Journaling: Our lesson for the day focused on how with help we are able to understand God’s word. As the kids came in to the room they were handed a card that had an item on it that they had to find. After 5 minutes none of them had identified what they were looking for. We called them to the table and handed them the key for the coded words allowing the children to find the items and bring them back to the table. April 18, 2010

Starting this Sunday, Mother's Day, I will be participating in a really fun challenge that hopefully will teach my some wonderful techniques to improve my scraping skills.

The Body of Art Challenge at Scrappers Online

Welcome friends both old and new to Scrappers Online's Body of Art challenge! We hope you are here as much for the learning and the fun as you are for the cash. Because learning is what we are all about here at Scrappers Online. We're striving to be the "goto" site for tutorials within the digital community.

Each week for 8 weeks we will give you a challenge based on our Body of Art theme.
You've got to join us to see just how we relate various body parts to scrapping, lol!
We will post the challenges every Sunday by 9 am PDT, outlining our weekly theme/challenge, providing our "four examples" and a template you can use if you want. You don't have to use our template, you can consider it a gift for playing. We will also focus on a particular scrapping technique, one you may have to check out our tutorials to use. Don't worry, we won't make you go through 20 million hoops, they'll be easy, fun and useful techniques!

You can follow along with my progress here on the blog or over at Scrappers Online.After I finish each weeks layout I will post it along with a description of the challenge.

Bears at Work

Life has been so crazy since Victor went back to school with the Cub Scouts and Adventure club back in full swing that I haven't had much time to blog or scrap. Here is the latest layout that I have done called Bears at Work. The Bear Den is working to build tool boxes that were auctioned off at our Blue and Gold Banquet for the Pack last March. I used a really great kit by Kristmess Called Diggin' Dirt available at Gotta Pixel.

Journaling: Part of being a Cub Scout is learning to use and make things. The Bears are building two tool boxes that will be auctioned off at the Blue and Gold Banquet for Pack 1776. All of the boys took turns hammering in the nails. They also had to identify certain tools. March 10, 2009. Fonts: Print Clearly, Nobility, Ariel Black.

I have been having fun doing Project Gallery at Designs in Digital. This past week we had to scraplift the layout to the right of ours in the gallery from week 1. Well I had a wonderful layout to scraplift that was done by violethare. I had to get real creative to lift her layout, whimsical holdiays.

Guilty? Pleasures

I have spent the past 3 weeks participating in the Scrap Stars Challenge over at Gotta Pixel. They are looking for members for the store Creative Team and the best scrappers from this challenge will make the team. Each week we are given a different kit and must complete a challenge layout with it. For week 3 we had to scrap our guilty pleasures using as much of the kit Oh Snap by Colie's Corner. This is my week 3 layout.

Journaling: According to Wikipedia a guilty pleasure is something one considers pleasurable despite feeling guilt for enjoying it.[1] Often, the "guilt" involved is simply fear of others discovering one's lowbrow or otherwise embarrassing tastes, rather than actual moral guilt. Fashion, music,[2] and food (especially unhealthier foods high in sugar and/or fat) can be examples of guilty pleasures.[3]So do my love of books and my latest distraction on the internet, Facebook, count as guilty pleasures? Only if I feel guilty about indulging in them. So I guess the real question here is whether or not I feel guilty about them. The answer is probably mixed depending on what I should be doing when I am giving into the temptation. Well we made it through the final weeks challenge. We really need your support and votes to win. This weeks challenge was to take 2 layouts and combine them into a single scraplift. They had to be from members of our team and we had to make sure that we did not all lift the same layouts or lift the same members. Divas In Digital

I know it has been a while since I have posted, but things have been kind of crazy here latly. I have joined a second CT so I know scrap for the wonderful Kristmess Designs available at Gotta Pixel and for Designs In Digital. I am currently participating in a creative team contest over at Digi Scrap Addicts. The Battle of the Creative Teams is great and we have just finished the first round. I am scraping on the store team for Designs In Digital and am one of the Divias In Digital for the contest. The teams are made up 5 members from either a stores creative team or a designers creative team. You can only use items from either your store or designer depending on who you are playing for. Once a challenge is posted you must work as a team put together 5 layouts that are co-ordinated either by color, theme, or both. This makes for the really fun part since the digital scraping world is global. After the posting dead line for the layouts DSA opens the polls and you, yes you can vote for your favorite team in each catagory by clicking here.

The layouts for the Divas were a prodemonelty blue color scheme with a theme of dreaming or sleeping. Check out our layouts.

Well we have finally come to the end of the contest at Designs In Digital. The final portion of my My Hero, My Dad is up their store along with an element booster pack freebie. This has been an unreadable month that has truly tested me as a designer. Despite the long hard hours I have loved every minute of the contest. The element pack for My Hero, My Dad is loaded with all kinds of father/child goodies from dolls holding hands or signs to button shaped hearts and silhouettes taken from photos of my son and husband together. This past school year my son was able to join Cub Scouts and sold paper last fall. My husband took him out over the course of several evenings walking in the neighborhood to get orders. When the popcorn came in we loaded up his wagon and set out to get all of the pop for our neighborhood delivered in one day. After a few houses Victor said that his feet were tired and hitched a ride in his wagon. This is a two page layout of the guys delivering the popcorn. My Hero, My Dad

We all have heros in our life. For some they are teachers, fire fighters, police men or our military men and women. But for most of us the bigist our first hero was the first man in our lives. The man that we first looked up to and thought he hung the moon. This kit is all about celebrating this first and most special of all our heros, Our Dads. Into The Woods

Guess What. I have a new freebie for everyone over at Designs In Digital. It is another fun kit inspired by my Cub Scout and his pack. This one is called Into The Woods. Full of trees, and trail markers this is a great kit for scrapping any of your outdoor photos. It will only be available for a short time so get it while you can.

Cub Scout Clean Up was done with this kit and is one of the events that has inspired it. One of the groups working that day saw 2 snakes while out on the trail and I just had to include a snake for them.

Oh No!!! I seem to have lost my marbles. Some how in the process of creating another kit all them seem to have disapered, but I think I know where they can be found. In a brand new mini kit created for the warm-up round of NDDIDS (New Designer Designs In Digital Search) at Desings in Digital. Over the next few weeks I will be creating several new kits for this contest and they will be given away free in the store.

Loosing My Marbles has 5 patterned papers, 2 marbles, 1 frame, 2 different bags of marbles, 2 tags (1 word art and 1 blank), 1 fiber, 1 marble game and 1 border. DSP Designer Finder Contest

Sorry it has been so long since the last time that I posted anything here. Between Hurricane Ike and the recovery we had a very eventful September and October. We are finally getting back to normal. At the beginning of November I participated in a Designer Finder Contest at Digital Scrapbook Place. I created 2 kits during the first 3 rounds. It was a wonderful experience and a chance for me to try my hand at some knew things in designing. The first kit, Handmade Christmas, was based off of the ornaments that my sister and I made as children. This kit contains 4 papers, 2 angels, 2 cords, 1 star frame, 1 word art, and 2 holly and berry clusters. The layout is of my son and our new puppy. I had the brilliant idea to take a photo of the two of them in front of our Christmas tree using the natural light in the room. It was a truly fun experience to get the two of them to sit still long enough for the picture to be taken.

The second kit that I created is Elements of Earth. This is a fun funky kit that is based loosely on the Chinese form of conji. I used it to scrap some portraits taken of my sisters family this past summer. It contains 1 knotted rope, 1 knotted ribbon, 4 papers, 1 flower, 4 photo corners, 1 brad, 1 eyelet, and 1 paper clip.

School Fun?

Well September has finally arrived with a bang here and that means one thing for all the kids back to school. Such a fun and fabulous time for everyone. To celebrate I have crated a new kit called "School Fun?", not sure who the fun is for the parents or the kids. My son couldn't wait for school to start again this year as he gets ready to go into the 1st grade. Here are two layouts that I did with the larger kit with photos that I took on the first day.

I had to buy him a box of 64 crayons this year and was inspired by all of the different colors that comes in it. I kept thinking of things that you would find in an elementary school classroom and have included some dolls, borders, and stars. I hope you enjoy using the mini kit as much as I did creating it. The mini kit contains 4 papers, a ribbon, a frame, 2 dolls, 1 word art.

Beth's Wedding Freebie
